Hello there! Welcome and thanks for stopping by, I’m Moira – a natural light photographer situated in Sedgefield, a picturesque town in the breathtaking Western Cape of South Africa.

David Young once said

“It is the photographing of ordinary things, in extraordinary light, which results in extraordinary photographs”

Extraordinary photographs are what I aspire to.

WHY PHOTOGRAPHY?

The image you see below, is the only photograph I have of myself and my beloved childhood pet, Patches: a black and white mongrel of questionable lineage.  Patches and I were joined at the hip, he was my best friend, confidante, comforter and soulmate and it makes me sad to think that this is the only tangible memory I have of him – one measly photograph that doesn’t reflect his spirit or show his bouncy personality, adorable face and comical expressions. That is why…

Patches & Moira

… my goal, each time I lift the camera to my face and look through its lens, is to find the light within my subject, to reveal their beautiful essence through my images and create an emotive and compelling piece of personalised art.  Art that has soul.

So please, relax, put your feet up and stick around a while.  You can check out some of my posts by diving straight onto the “BLOG” tab above to look through my most recent articles.

If you prefer to browse through images then click on “GALLERIES”  above and choose a category from the drop-down box.  If you’d like to get to know me a bit better, it’s the “ABOUT ME” tab you’ll be after.

If you love what you see and think we could get along, remember before you leave to add me to your RSS feed or subscribe to get my updates in your inbox!

All my love

moi ♥

  1. I disagree with you on one point… his personality does shine through some. Even if you don’t think it shows all but here he looks as if he’s enjoying a secret joke :) (well at least to me) Sorry you don’t have more shots of him.

    • Thanks C, actually this was the ONLY image ever taken of him and it was for a local newspaper article because the two dogs and the rabbit got on so well with each other, some journalist thought it newsworthy at the time, I am so grateful to have this one at least :)

      • Wow :) Well, you should probably look him up and thank the guy :) I can imagine how relieved and sad you must feel at the same time. I had some pics of when I was little but they got destroyed. Can’t go back in time to take them over… know what you mean tho. Do you have any pets now?

  2. your pics have always been great Moi…and it was great meeting you in Mauritius… I love seeing your pics when you post them Keep that lens capturing the moments. xx Thurle
