Sam Smith, the ginger and white neighbours cat, is the friendliest cat I have ever known and if you’ve been following my blog for some time,  you’ll know that I have a very soft spot for Marmalade cats but that is only one of the reasons I think Sam is extra special.   Whenever I meet him, he behaves as though it is the highlight of his day, rubbing himself against me and rolling over for tickling, he has no problem being picked up for a little kissing and cuddling, all the while purring like a two-stroke engine.

He has made fast friends with all the families in the neighbourhood and even the little girls across the road adore him, despite having two cats of their own.

He is such a tease and loves to wander down the road, walking tantalisingly close to our fence driving Paddington and Ruby crazy, the dogs run up and down barking like mad and Sam, with his ginger and white tail held high, saunters past barely glancing their way.

Sam is an explorer of note and takes great delight hunting in the empty plot of land next to our house and in the field behind his own home.  His human slave complains of being woken up in the early hours of the morning because Sam wants to go hunting and exploring but Sam pays her little attention, after all what are slaves for?

Till now, I haven’t been able to get him to stay in one place long enough to do a photo-shoot but one afternoon last week, just before sunset I managed to get some sweet images of young Sam before he disappeared into the bushes.

Just like every other cat he loves to sit way up high and observe us mere mortals from his lofty perch…

He is curious and full of mischief…

As usual, I’ve saved my favorite image for last, doesn’t he look as though butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth?
