I’m not alone,” said the boy. “I’ve got a puppy.”
― Jane Thayer, The Puppy Who Wanted a Boy
Since Mr T has almost completed all the fiddly bits on the new garage/studio project, I was desperate to try a mini photo session to see what the light coming from the main window was like, I also need as much practise as I can get with my new, long awaited Canon 60D camera and Canon 85mm f/1.8 lens. The 60D is much heavier than my old 1000D and that combined with the new lens is a whole different ball game and most definitely takes some getting used to.
Happily I found a cute little subject to practise on – Sookie, an 8 week old Jack Russell Terrier.
Mr T was my trusty assistant, ensuring that the subject did not fall off the table at any time or chew up any of the props.
I am amazed at how different Sookie looks when an image is taken of the right/white half of her face as opposed to the side with the brown eye patch, it’s like looking at two different puppies.
We spent a fun and tiring 30 minutes with this energetic little girl and I’m happy to say that I’m pretty pleased with the light in our new garage/studio and am looking forward to Mr T completing the painting inside and acquiring a few backdrops and props.
How adorable are those little brown spots on her white ear? The above photo of Sookie reminds me so much of that image of the dog Nipper from “His Masters Voice” Record Label, don’t you think?
I’m starting to love my new camera too…
All my love
