He had the appeal of a very young dog of a very large breed — a kind of amiable absurdity.”

Rosie is a 4 month old Bouvier des Flandres and lives with 13 year old Zen, a Bouvier cross and George, a male Tabby cat of similar age. The photo session was primarily intended for Rosie but there was no way I could leave without some images of the other fur babies as well.

The Bouvier des Flandres is a herding dog breed originating in Flanders. They were originally used for general farm work including cattle droving, sheep herding, and cart pulling, and nowadays as guard dogs and police dogs, as well as being kept as pets. The French name of the breed means, literally, “Cow Herder of Flanders”, referring to the Flemish origin of the breed. Other names for the breed are Toucheur de Boeuf (cattle driver), Vlaamse Koehond (Flemish cow dog), and Vuilbaard (dirty beard).”

George was most accommodating and patient during his photoshoot, apparently though, it’s best not to get on his bad side as he has a bit of temper.
You know the best example of sincerity? The absolute gold standard?
Who?
Angus pointed to the door, outside which Cyril was waiting patiently. A dog. Have you ever met an insincere dog – a dog who hides his true feelings?
Domenica looked thoughtful.And cats?
Dreadfully insincere, said Angus. Psychopaths- every one of them. Show me a cat, Domenica, and I’ll show you a psychopath. Textbook examples.”

Just like a big older brother, what a sweet boy Zen is, very calm and tolerant of the exuberant Rosie and her mad antics.

George keeping the audacious Rosie in line by giving her a couple of cat wallops just for good measure, luckily for her, she’s pretty adept at ducking and diving.

Madame Rosie is teething at the moment and nothing is safe from those sharp little gnashers, she managed to rip my assistant (Mr T) open within 30 seconds of meeting him. In Rosie’s defense, Mr T has very thin skin and no match for those razor sharp pearly whites.

No, I cannot believe that George would be anything other than a perfect tabby cat. 😀

Beautiful photos of your animals. George doesn’t look too happy in the first photo. 🙂
