Hello and welcome to my stomping ground. I’m Moira, a photographer living in the quaint village of Sedgefield, situated along the Western Cape of Southern Africa.

Here you’ll find an easy, fully mentored online photography course, beautiful photographs and a quirky blog.

After eleven years as a reflexologist and aromatherapist, I decided that having an approachable and friendly attitude towards clients and my skill at making them feel relaxed, special and in capable hands, could also be put to use capturing the unique personalities of my photography subjects.

My images of Tambeau Fabrics design collections have been featured in House and Leisure, Garden & Home, SA Decor, Joburg’s Darling and Home d-zine but my real passion is getting human and animal subjects to open up in front of the camera to result in natural, heart warming images that show connection, personality and emotion.

“A thing that you see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people.”
— Annie Leibovitz

Confession time. I’m completely animal mad and have been enamoured with them ever since I was able to reach out with chubby baby hands, grasp two handfuls of canine fur and plant a drooling kiss on a patient head. The image you see below, is the only photograph I have of myself and my beloved childhood pet, Patches: a black and white mongrel of questionable lineage.

Patches and I were joined at the hip, he was my best friend, confidante, comforter and soul-mate, separated by a cruel twist of fate when he was only two and it makes me sad to think that this is the only tangible memory I have of him – one small photograph that doesn’t reflect his spirit or show his bouncy personality, adorable face and comical expressions.

Animals are with us for such a short time, yet leave an indelible mark on our hearts, what better way to honour their memory than to have a beautiful photographic piece of art to treasure for ever.

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
— Aaron Siskind

My goal, each time I lift my camera to my face and look through the lens, is to find the light within my subject, to reveal their beautiful one-of-a-kind personality through my images to create an emotive and compelling piece of personalised art.  Art that has soul.

  1. Oh, I love this! I relate so much to your reason for choosing pet photography as my interest in photography stems from not having very many photographs of myself, or my siblings, when we were growing up. Also, my dad and my oldest brother both passed away before my children knew them and there really aren’t very many photos of them. I’m so glad for having “met” you and I look forward to seeing more of your photographs! Thank you for stopping by my blog, as well!!

  2. I think pet photography is great. Our cats are part of the family. One of our cats will try to follow me all around town since I try to walk everywhere. He really likes to go to the books store because the ladies love it when he comes in. He is a cranky old man and I take pictures of him all the time.

  3. your pics have always been great Moi…and it was great meeting you in Mauritius… I love seeing your pics when you post them Keep that lens capturing the moments. xx Thurle

  4. I disagree with you on one point… his personality does shine through some. Even if you don’t think it shows all but here he looks as if he’s enjoying a secret joke🙂 (well at least to me) Sorry you don’t have more shots of him.

    • Thanks C, actually this was the ONLY image ever taken of him and it was for a local newspaper article because the two dogs and the rabbit got on so well with each other, some journalist thought it newsworthy at the time, I am so grateful to have this one at least🙂

    • Wow🙂 Well, you should probably look him up and thank the guy🙂 I can imagine how relieved and sad you must feel at the same time. I had some pics of when I was little but they got destroyed. Can’t go back in time to take them over… know what you mean tho. Do you have any pets now?
