“I found that each time a test was negative, it stopped the dreaming and hoping for a while. Taking the test was a way of puncturing the balloons of hope, because if I didn’t, they would lift and lift without any evidence, and their falling back down every month was too painful. Essentially, I took all these tests to keep myself from hoping, because the hoping was breaking my heart.”― Shauna Niequist, Bread and Wine: A Love Letter to Life Around the Table with Recipes
This is the second photoshoot I’ve done with this sweet family and when I’m done culling and editing the session, I sit the Mom down and show her a slideshow preview of her images.
About 90 seconds into the slideshow she begins to weep; tears of love and gratitude for this miracle child, this much longed for baby she thought she would never have.
When I see how overwhelmed and happy she is with the photographs, I know this work is truly worthwhile and meaningful and now I want to cry and it all gets a bit emotional really. All feel good tears though, nothing a couple of tissues and a good blow of the nose can’t remedy.
Papa is a HUGE man who could squish anyone without breaking a sweat but he is very tightly wound around his daughter’s tiny finger.
She is full of energy and bounce, ready to run, jump and play at the merest hint of encouragement. I’m so envious of her blatant joie de vivre, if I could bottle it, I swear I’d make a fortune!
“There was a nebulous, infectious energy to her, as if she were somehow more alive than everyone else. As if all her nerves were sparking at once, just below the surface.”― Katharine McGee, American Royals
The eyes that sparkle in awe and amazement as they see love, magic and mystery in the most ordinary things.”― Henna Sohail
“You’re you. Uniquely, wonderfully you.”― Kailin Gow, Loving Summer
“(24/7) once you sign on to be a mother, that’s the only shift they offer.”― Jodi Picoult, My Sister’s Keeper
“She loves the serene brutality of the ocean, loves the electric power she felt with each breath of wet, briny air.”― Holly Black, Tithe
“Whatever happens in the rest of this summer, whatever happens the rest of your life, it’s important that you are happy, and stay that way.”― Kailin Gow, Loving Summer
May you be happy, may you be well, may you be safe, may your heart feel peace,
