As much as I love photographing humans, pets and horses, Real Estate photography has it’s own allure. In the first place, there’s not a lot of pressure, no racing against the fading light, no humans to keep busy or animals to appease. I have time to think.
I have the luxury of being able to play the role of quiet observer and allow the beauty to reveal itself and speak to me before I even bring the camera up to my eye. Pockets of prettiness vie for my attention and charming vignettes of beautiful groupings are everywhere.
This Real Estate and Interiors photo session took place at Equleni, a 21 Hectare Eco-Estate offering various self catering accommodation. The farm is aptly named, Equleni meaning “Peace by the Water” because by golly the surroundings are truly peaceful, the fynbos fabulously fragrant and the views of the Outeniqua mountains and the lakes just glorious.

“Let us hope that life grant an opportunity to those miserable who live in the golden palaces to taste the infinite peace of a wooden cottage in the countryside and so their misery ends!”
― Mehmet Murat ildan

All kinds of yumminess going on here…

“Sometimes in the summer evenings they walked up the hill to watch the afterglow clinging to the tops of the western mountains and to feel the breeze drawn into the valley by the rising day-heated air. Usually they stood silently for a while and breathed in peacefulness. Since both were shy they never talked about themselves. Neither knew about the other at all.”
― John Steinbeck, East of Eden

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature — the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.”
― Rachel Carson, Silent Spring

“Cooking and eating food outdoors makes it taste infinitely better than the same meal prepared and consumed indoors.”
― Fennel Hudson, Fine Things – Fennel’s Journal – No. 8

“Outside, daylight was bleeding slowly toward dusk.”
― Stephen King, The Running Man

“I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen, of meadow-flowers and butterflies in summers that have been; Of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were, with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair.
I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago, and people who will see a world that I shall never know.
But all the while I sit and think of times there were before, I listen for returning feet and voices at the door.
― JRR Tolkien – Fellowship of the Ring

“Sitting still all summer . . . was the height of my ambition.”
― Anne Somerset, Queen Anne: The Politics of Passion

“Our mind is continuously overflooded with ideas, emotions, sentiments.
By and by relax, be empty.”
― Osho, Beloved of My Heart: A Darshan Diary

“I’m going to give you a handful of wildflowers
so, each petal that falls will remind you
that the earth breathes, and the moon rises.”
― My Dear, Love Hasn’t Forgotten You
