Sunset Family Beach Shoot | Platbank Sedgefield

During this entire photo shoot, all I could think was how wonderful it must be to be loved so fully and completely by not just one but two Moms. This young man is an extremely fortunate fellow to be part of this beautiful, happy family. Absolutely one of my favourite shoots to date, they were a dream to work with and the weather played along fabulously.

“My mom smiled at me. Her smile kind of hugged me.”

“No one is ever quite ready; everyone is always caught off guard. Parenthood chooses you. And you open your eyes, look at what you’ve got, say “Oh, my gosh,” and recognize that of all the balls there ever were, this is the one you should not drop. It’s not a question of choice.”
― Marisa de los Santos, Love Walked In

“I know that despite whatever stupid thing I do, I’d be able to go to my mom and she’d still love me. I honestly believe that”

“…we must be tolerant with ourselves and allow ourselves some deviations from the straight line we set up to follow. Even more we must allow others the same prerogative.”
― Jill Lepore, The Secret History of Wonder Woman

“Having a child flips your concept of love upside down into new depths, otherwise unknown to the human heart.”
― Julieanne O’Connor

“I know enough to know that no woman should ever marry a man who hated his mother.”
― Martha Gellhorn, Selected Letters

“Through the blur, I wondered if I was alone or if other parents felt the same way I did – that everything involving our children was painful in some way. The emotions, whether they were joy, sorrow, love or pride, were so deep and sharp that in the end they left you raw, exposed and yes, in pain. The human heart was not designed to beat outside the human body and yet, each child represented just that – a parent’s heart bared, beating forever outside its chest.”
― Debra Ginsberg

“Sons need mothers who feel at peace, comfortable with themselves, content with their lives, and reasonably rested.”
― Meg Meeker, M.D.

“I realized when you look at your mother, you are looking at the purest love you will ever know.”

“When you truly sing, you sing yourself free. When you truly dance, you dance yourself free. When you walk in the mountains or swim in the sea, again, you set yourself free.”
― Jay Woodman

“Let your boys test their wings. They may not be eagles, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t soar free.”

“Your children are not your children.
They are sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you.
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness.
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He also loves the bow that is stable.”
