KNYSNA – You’re still beautiful

“Peter stood, cleared his throat, and began to hum softly, then sing, slowly building up the song as his voice cleared. He found the old tune, the song of the Sunbird. And as he sung, as his rich voice echoed off the tall cliffs, the birds and the faeries lent him their voice and soon the tune drifted throughout the garden.”

I dedicate this post to the resilience of nature and human nature in light of the devastating fires we’ve experienced this month in Knysna and along our beautiful Garden Route.

All the tragic stories, loss of lives, homes, belongings and precious wildlife. Happily, there were others stories too – of bravery, miracles, generosity, selflessness and compassion, they are the stories I want to remember.

Knysna, you are still beautiful, let the healing begin,

Love

  1. Beautiful post. I’m currently writing about how Knysna is rebuilding and hope after the terrible fires. Please check it out if you’ve got a moment, will be up shortly! Plenty of other SA and Garden Route related posts too.

  2. Moira – you are such a wonderful person. What a lovely post. I will forward it to my friend Cheryl who works at the caravan park in Knysna. On the Saturday after the fire she and Chippy went out and when they got home, a tree had fallen over the place where they park their car. Thankfully their car was gone so there was no damage.
