5 Unarguably Excellent Reasons to Make a Photobook

We all have hundreds of images on our phones or laptops that we love but have never taken the time to print out. What if for some reason they were lost due to phone theft, or a computer crash? What a tragedy that would be and how sad not to be able to pass our photographs on to future generations.

One of the ways to prevent this happening would be to back up your photographs to the cloud or an external hard drive, you should do this anyway irrespective of which of the other methods you choose. Some other ways would be to print your favourites and frame them; hang some canvasses; store batches of 4 x 6 prints in beautiful Keepsake Boxes; or print some quality Coffee Table Photobooks.

REASON 1 – TANGIBLE MEMORIES ARE UNIQUE

Having printed images we can touch, changes the way we experience these photographic memories and the way we’re able to share them with friends or family. It creates a heart-warming bonding experience to sit laughing and reminiscing about shared good times while paging through photographs together with a loved one. Keeping your Coffee Table Photobooks within easy reach will ensure that you’ll be able to enjoy them anytime the mood takes you.

REASON 2 – WALL SPACE IS OFTEN LIMITED

I love my sweet Custard Cottage but wall space is at a minimum in my tiny house so one of the best ways to print multiples of my favourite photographs is to artistically design and print a beautiful Photobook.

Let’s face it, technology is the name of the game these days and even though I’m constantly on my phone or computer, culling and editing photographs from my shoots, I rarely take the opportunity to look at my own images. Even if I did make the effort to look at my own digital photos, I don’t know about you, but I find that printed images feel more real and hold my attention a lot longer than pictures on a screen.

Photobooks are a great way to print out many images at once without having to find space on your walls or furniture to display them and I’m extremely grateful that I took the time to have these beautiful memories printed onto paper and bound together into good quality Photobooks for myself and future generations to enjoy.

REASON 3 – AN AFFORDABLE LUXURY AND THE EPITOME OF HYGGE

Making a delicious hot beverage on a cold winters day, snuggling under a cosy blanket and settling down for a half hour dive into a stack of Photobooks cannot be overrated. An affordable luxury and the epitome of hygge for me.

REASON 4 – PHOTOBOOKS MAKE THOUGHTFUL GIFTS

Racking your brains for what to buy grandparents, aunts or uncles for birthdays and Christmas? Photobooks make fabulous gifts especially when we don’t see our loved ones as often as we’d like.

REASON 5 – PROMISES ARE LIKE PIE CRUSTS

You know the excitement you feel when after a photo session your photographer sends a message saying, “Your images are ready for viewing” and you just can’t wait to see them.

After downloading how you eagerly devour them all, some of the images make you smile, others bring a tear to your eye and you promise yourself, “This time I’m definitely going to print out some of my favourites!”

I had an English teacher in high school who, when a notoriously tardy student was begging for more time to complete her homework and promising to hand it in the following day, would smile, shake her head and say “Your promises are like pie crusts, made to be broken.”

Seriously though, life does get in the way and the mission of having to choose the photographs you want to include in the book, knowing which resolution to use, learning the software, actually designing the book (which images go where, how many to a page, landscape or portrait) can be overwhelming and often the images stay exactly where you left them, in a folder on your hard drive.

TA-DA! BONUS REASON – WHAT IF?

What if I took all the angst out of it for you by, choosing the best images from your shoot, tastefully designing your Personalised Photobook, having it printed and delivered to your door without you lifting a finger? Wouldn’t that be FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!?
