Home is where the heart is…

I sat down this morning and worked out that in the last 50 odd years I have moved house 19 times and 4 of those times involved living in a different country!  Once again I’m on the move, this time from the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean to the Western Cape in South Africa.

I don’t relish the thought of moving again, I’m tired just thinking about it.  Finding a house, a car, packing up the container, tying up all the loose threads of our lives on this island, checking that two dogs and a cat have had all their shots, blood tests, traveling boxes delivered and flights booked.

Amidst all this chaos though one thing keeps me grounded – the knowledge that “Home is where the heart is” and as long as I have my Dear One and my furry children close by, then together we’ll make it a home,  wherever we are.

Moving countries is a costly exercise and a budget needs to be in place
Some of us are looking forward to being back in SA
Some of us don’t care as long as we have a cosy place to sleep every day
Others are not looking forward to the long journey in a wooden box
There will be new adventures and places to discover
Sadly, we will part ways with dear friends who must travel a different road…

BUT once we are settled and all moved in we are going to relax and have a long, well deserved rest!

Moving is tiring...
Moving is tiring…

Until next time!
